the Truce, the Papists have committed great Outrages,
for which they must bee answerable before
the neuter Cantons. Colonel Giel, who depends
on the Abbot of St Gall, hath attempted the surprising
of the Castle of Arbon with 20 men of Tyroll,
but hath been prevented by Lieut: Gen: Vlricks
men. Colonel Lerber of Bern hath faln into the
County of Entlibuch belonging to Lucern, and seized
on Wisenbach, Beibrechen and Marbach, having
with him 3600 men. Those of Lucern having
during the Truce plundered Tschangnaw, it is
judged fit to use a retaliation. The great body of
those of Bern is still incamped between Zufsinguen
and Lenzburg. The other Regiments are
keeping the advenues of Soleurre, Friburg, Valey,
Savoy and Burgundy. The Enemies on the side
of the lake are very insolent. Some armed Barques
are still kept on the Lake of Geneva.
Those of Zurick are resolved rather to dye and
to hazzard all, then to make a shamefull peace;
which being very unlikely, it seems all things tend
to a full and generall War. Whereby you may
observe how false were the news spred abroad last
week that the Cantons of Zurick and Bern had accepted
of a very disadvantagious peace to all the
Protestants, which report came from such as were
manifestly disaffected to the Protestant Cantons.
