THis day the full Ratification of the Treaty
with Portugall was presented to his Highness.
There came severall Letters which gave an Account
of a great Defeat given to one of the Bodies
of the French Army, which was commanded
by the Marshall de la Ferte, before the City of Valechienne:
intimating more over, that it was to the French a most
unhappy Enterprise from the very beginning, having lost many
Men, and severall considerable Commanders during the
siege: but the conclusion proved fatall, a body of 11000 having
