The Court appointed them Saturday Aprill 7. to bring in their witnesses, and to
be heard by the Court Marshall, and Tuesday following to be a day for th[unr]
Tryoll.
The Councel of State safe upon the preparations of Lieur. General Crummell
for Ireland, and severall things were done [unr]setting forth of the Navie.
Aldermen Andrews was this day sworn Lord Mayor of the Citie of London, in
the Exchequer Chamber before the Burotis of the Exchequer.
Saturday April 7.
The House of Commons ordered, That the Lords Commissioners of the
great Seale should bring in the names of persons fit to be made Judges to
fill all the Benches of the Courts in Westminister;and to have their P[unr]ports ready
on the Tuesday following.
Die Sabbathi 7 April 1649.
Ordered by the Commons Assembled in Parliament, That it be referred unto Collonel
Harvy, Mr. Hill, Sir Jon. Danvers, Collonel Moore, Humphrey Edwards Esquire.
Maj. Gen. Skippon, Mr. Say, Mr. Chaloner, Mr. Carey, Mr. Smith Collonel Worton, Sir
Peter Wentworth, Mr Gurdon, Mr. Pary, Mr. Weaver, Alderman Wilson, Mr. Lieman,
Alderman Atkins, Mr. Pelham, Mr. Cawley, the Lord M[unr]on;Sir Thomas Wieth, Mrs.
Garland, or any three of them (with power) to receive the information given against sheriffe
Browne, a Member of this House,and Examinations touching his engagements with the
Scots, and with the Earle of Holland, and other in[unr]ours wherewith be it charged.
With further power also to take the information and examinations against the rest of the
Members of this House who are imprisoned, or under restrain.
And the said-Committee are to meet on Munday in the after-noon in the Court of Wards;
and the especiall care hereof is more particularly referred to Mr. Edmund Harvey, and Mr.
Hill. Hen Scobell, Cleric.Parliamenti.
Witnesses are ready to be produced to prove who were Transfers for the
Earle of Hollands designe, and that such and such paid out 10000.li. and who
received it, &c.
There are in prison, and under restraint by the power of the Parliament, of
their Members that come under this motion, by Authority of the order aforesaid,
besides Major Generall Browne, Sir William Waller, Sir. John Clotworthy, Col.
Lionell Copley, and others.
From the Navy came Letters that Cap.Cophin commander of the Greybound
ship, hath taken a man of War, in which Vessel, the commander had a Commission
from Prince Charles dated at the Hague; his Commission was also found aboard
the ship which was taken neare the Downes; the Commission was signed by
Prince Charles as King, and with his Seale,as King of England, Scotland,France,
and Ireland; subscribed CHARLES REX.
The House of Commons this day tooke into consideration the carriage of
some disaffected Aldermen of the City of London, to the present proceedings of
Parliament, and the Government now established in the Commonwealth, and
passed an order, the substance thus, Ordered by the Commons in Parliament assembled,
That John Geere, Tho. Adams, John Langhum, James Blance, and Abraham Reynoldson,
be discharged; and dis-inabled from being Aldermen, and that others be chose in their places.
