Called the Upper Bench. And passed an Order for an Act for the Jurisdiction of the
said Court accordingly.
Letters from Cap. Yong. Commander of the Dragon ship, Certifie, that be hath taken
a Vessel belonging to the Irish, at Cork, that was returning home, landen with
Marchandize, neer the Bay at Bainton, a Vessel of about 80 Tun burden, And withall
he sent agreat packet of letters that were sent from Prince Charles and others, with
and about him, to the Marquesse of Ormond.
Die Lune 12 Feb. 1648.
COl. Walton reports from the Committee, Col. Dean. Col. Blake, and Col. Edward
Popham, for Commissioners to goe to Sea in the next-Summer fleet.
I Resolved upon the Question by the Commons in Parliament assembled, That Col. Edw.
Popham be appointed to be one of the Commissioners to goe to Sea in the next Summers fleet.
2 Resolved, That Col.Edw. Blake, bee appointed to be one of the Commissioners in the
next Summers fleet.
3 Resolved, &c. That Col. Richard Deane, be appointed to be one of the commissioners
to go to Sea in the next Summers fleet.
Ordered by the Commons assembled in Parliament, That it be referred to the Committee
of the Navy, to bring in, Instructions for the said Commissioners, and to consider of allowances
for the said Commissioners, what will be fit for the benefit of the publique,
intreference to this
businesse, and report it to the Nouse on. Wednesday next. H. Scob. Cler. Par. D.Com.
A List of the Judges appointed by the House of Commons this day for the
severall Circuits.
1 For Norfolke, &c. Circuit Henry Rolle Lord Cheife Justice of the Court of
the Upper-Bench, of late called the Kings Bench.
2 For Midland Circuit, Northampton, &c. Oliver St. John Lord cheife Justice
of the Common-Pleas.
3 for the Western Circuit. The Lord cheife Baron Wild.
4 For Lancashire, &c. Circuit, Justice Phesant, one of the Judges of the Court
of the Common-Pleas.
5. Oxon, &c. Circuit, Justice Jerman, one of the Judges of the Upper Bench, lately
Court of the Kings-Bench.
6 York &c. Circuit. Baron Yates, one of the Barons of the Exchequer, and Serjeant
Puliston.
The Commons Ordered that two months pay, should bee advanced for the
Company of Seamen of the Elizabeth Frigot, to be given to them as a gratuity
for their faithfull service to the State.
Tuesday Febr. 13.
THis day the Commons passed some Votes for the paying of those Northerne
Forces that are to be disbanded out of the Lord Molineu [unr] reversions and others
concerning which the House passed Instructions.
The House also passed Instructions for Colonel General Lambert, concerning
those Northern Forces which are to continue, and be of the Establishment.
The Committee made reports of the Councell of State brought in their instructions,
and the Nunes of 37 Gentlemen, some members of Parliament, some
Judges of courts the time to be for one year, the whole was read, but nothing
done this say by the House, either concerning the Names, &c.
