Beginning Munday the 19. of Febr. 1648.
The Commons received a Letter, which was read
from the Prince Electer; acqainting them with
his intentions to return into his own Country,
giving them thanks for their favours, and a[UNC]ctivers
acceptable expressions; desiring that they will
let him have his arrears presently; and Order
him to have passes for his Coach, gentlemen, horses,
and goods, all which was granted.
His Arrears are 6500 l. Some 30 horse, and 40
Gentlemen, are to go over with his highnes.
The Commons passed the Oath, to be taken
by the new Sheriffs in the severall Counties.
The House was acquainted, that the Lord Grey
of Warke desires to be excused from being of the
Councell of Estates, and so the number is now just 40. The House was
desired from some of those Gentlemen, that there might be some amendments made
in the engagement to be signed, concerning which, some reasons were offered pressing
to what is before, and not to looke back wards. The house Ordered to refers it to
those 40 Gentlemen of the Councell of State, as a Committee to consider of some
thing to that purpose, to offer to the House drawn up by them, and report it to the
house with all possible speed.
