SInce the taking of Graveline, the armies of
Marshal Tureine and La Ferte are united, La
Ferte himself being (as is said) gone towards
the Court. This imbodying of all the forces
hath Caused Don John, the Prince of Conde,
and the Marquis Caracene to retire with their respective
Bodies, which they had joyned, with resolution (as they
gave out) to have attempted the relief of the place, but were
prevented by the advance of Marshal Tureine from about Newport
