MIddleton being forced to be sculking, a
good part of the principall persons,
that were of his party being come
in, and their peace made; the rest
would fain be at home again in quiet.
Their friends have mediated for
some of them, to whom it is like the
same favour will be allowed as hath
bin to others. Among the rest, Lorne, the Marquis of Argiles
son, who hath done as much mischief, and been as violent
as any, hath wrought with his father to interpose in his
behalf, having had enough of a fugitive life among the hils.
The Earl of Seafort will be received, having made application
to that purpose before many others; and tis like the
rest may not be refused, our General being inclinable to use
all means for quietness, and to pacifie and soften the minds
of that rude generation
