7000 of the Enemies horic come round about
that place, threatning to besiege it, it being reduced
to want of all necessaries, and so close blockt
up at present, That nothing of relief could be
brought in;and therefore unless some speedy order
were taken, they should be constrained to
make a surrender at discretion. The Inhabitants
of St Male, and other Towns along the Seacoast
of Bretaigne, have made a Tender to the K.
and his Councill, to set forth 20 great Vessels of
Warr, to be ready to oppose the English, in case
an Agreement be not made in England by the present
Treaty. Which offer was accepted by the
K:and his Council, and they encouraged to go on.
Tis reported for certain, That an Accommodation
hath bin made between the Court, and the
marquis of Nermontier, wherupon he hath surrenrendred
Mont-Olympe & Gharleville, into his majesties
possessions; and all through the intermediation
of the Dutchess of Chevereuse, who negotiated
the business. Cardinal Mazarin hath put the D.
of Mercoeur, who married one of his Nieces, into
the Government of Provence, as a portion with
his wife. The Letters of Reprisal to be granted
against the English, are ready drawn, and Letters
being expected from his majesties Ambassador at
London they intend to set what Resolution will
be taken by the lord Protector; and accordingly,
the letter will be either passed, or recalled.
This week, here was an English Marquis, belonging
to the Retinue of the little Queen late
of England, was by the Kings Command committed
to the Bastile, but for what Cause, is not
Knowne.
