The Sieur Morstein, Envoy from the King of
Poland, not having had Audience granted, because
of some defect in his Credentials, waits for the
return of other Credential Letters from hi Master.
In the mean time, his Majesty resents it, that
the Pole should send onely a Gentleman Envoy,
and not some more eminent person an Ambassador
as was promised, and we expected.
Count Magnus de la Gard is restored to his office
of Lord Treasurer of this Kingdom, and is also
made Chancelor of the University. Some few
days since, there happened a fire in the Castle of
Niecoping, which is the usual habitation of the
Qu: Dowager of Sweden, which occasioned some
damage to it.
Wednesday, April 4.
There was published an Ordinance for the continuance
and maintenance of the Alms-houses
and Alms-men called Poor Knights, and other charitable
and pious uses, whereof the late Dean and
Canons of Windsor, were Feoffees in trust. By
this Ordinance appointing the L. Commissioner
Whitlock, Lord President of the Council for the
time being, Lord Wharton, Col. Sydenham, Col.
Mountagur, Col. Mackworth, Col. Jones, Francis [unr]s
Esq; Provost of Eaten Colledge, Maj. Gen. Skippon,
Col. George Fleetwood, Cornelius Holland, Simon
Ma[unr] Esquires, Sir Wil. Roberts Knight, Christopher
Whitechcot Esq; Sir John Therewgood of Kensington,
Edward Cresses, William Trumbel, Thomas Wood, Esquires,
Dr. Thomas Cox, Nicholas Lockier, Nathaniel
