The like Order and Declaration for collecting
the Excise in Ireland.
From Rome May 10.
Here dyed lately Cardinal Francisco Peretti, cald
Montalte, aged 60 years, whereby there are now
again four Cardinals places vacant.
On the fourth of May his Holiness came into
the Consistory, and in great state invested the
Cardinal of Hessen with the Cardinals Cap, who
has since set up over his Gate the Armes of his
Holiness, the Roman Emperor, and his Catholique
Majesty.
The fifth of May his Holiness was in the Treasure
Chamber, where he visited the Treasure,
and presently after Order was given for the raising
of 4000 men for the Venetian, assist them
against the Turks. His Holiness hath like wise
made an Order to bee observed among the Cardinals,
that none of them are to wear mourning
hence forward, but that they are alwayes to bee
cloathed in Scarler.

Our Elector here [unr]xpecting the resolution
of his States. Of whom he doth still continue to
demand a maintenance for an Army of 12000
men, and to fortifie the Town of Bonne, as well as
those of K[unr]serwert and Bruel. The D: of Newburg
