------It à vertere Seria. {Hor. de
Ar. Poet.
From Thursday May 8. to Thursday May. 15. 1651.
HAving of late in this Preambular way,
given a weekly taste of the necessity
of a reconciliation between us, and
our brethren of the dissenting opinion;
the danger of their closing upon
any terms with the Royal party; the
prevailing of the old corrupt and Malignant
interest in Scotland; the cunning
sleights and devises of the Scottish
King, in over-reaching both Kirk and State; his quitting
of those very Principles whereupon he was at first admitted;
his natural hatred of them, the godly party, yea, and
the whole Nation: having also manifested, that the Scottish
design, (carried on wholly by Malignants) aims only at possession
and interest among us; it will in the next place very
handsomly fall in here to take a view of the Scottish pretences
against us, and our proceedings, and every week give
them a clear confutation.
