SO great was the Stupidity of elder time
being ridden by the Clergie, that in all
our Chronicles we can hardly meet
with a piece of Justice done upon any
of that Tribe, till the time of Harry
the Eighth, when Bishop Fisher was
brought to the Block, as a Martyr for
the Pope's Supremacy: And yet from
Sodomy and private Murther to publique Treason and Rebellion,
there is not crime whereof they were not guilty,
and from the penalty wherof they were not guarded by Impunity,
and exemption from the Secular Power. This having
been so in time past, may prompt us upon the consideration
of the present Actions of many of our Ministers, to beleeve,
That we may be still at the same pass that our Fore-Fathers
were and that our new Clergie are still the same idol, only a
little dis-guised with a new dress of Mummery: They have
taken a new Form, but labour to hold up the old Grandeur
