The E of Cambridge being brought before the High Court of justice, his
Councell
allowed were Mr. Herne, Dr. Turner, Mr, Hales, Mr. Parsons.
The Councell for the State, (in behalf of the Common-wealth) proceeded to
proof of matter of fact, And produced severall papers, and for testimony, the Lord
Grey of Groby, Mr. Prideaux, Mr. Scobell, Col. Wayte, Capt. Oates, Mr. Richison,
Mr. Sinclare, Mr. Dickinson, and others witnesses.
Die Lure 19. Febr. 1643.
1. ORdered by the Commons assembled in Parliament, That this house doth approve
of what was done by the Generall, and Sir M chaell Livesley, and Col.
Sydney, upon the desire of the Generall in keeping up the forces of horse and foot in
Kent, notwithstanding the order of this house; of the twenty fourth day of October last.
2. Ordered by the Common assembled in Parliament, That the charge for disbanding
all the forces of horse and foote in the County of Kent, (except one Company
of foote) shall be payd by the Committee of Kent, cut of the Competitions
and Sequestrations of the late Delinquents in the said County of Kent,
and likewise the monies raised by Sir Michael Lievsey (and for repayment whereof,
he hath undertaken to the County for taking of free-quarter) be forth with paid
cut of the said Compositions, and sequestrations of the said late Delinquents; And
that the Company to be continued, be also paid by the said Committee, out of the
compositions and Sequestrations.
3. Ordered by the Commons assembled in Parliament, That it be referred to the
Committee of State, to consider how the forces of the Horse and foot in the County
of Kent may be desposed of; for the service of the Common-Wealth, and the case of
the County.
4. Ordered by the Commons assembled in Parliament, That Mr. Speaker do give
the thanks of this house to Sir Michaell Livesey, for his good and faithfull service to
the Common-wealth, in the County of Kent, and else where; And Mr. Speaker did
accordingly give him the thanks of this House.
5. Ordered by the Commons assembled in Parliament, that the troop of horse
under the Command of Col. Sidney, attending the service of the Garrison of Dover,
be paid off equall with the foote, to the time of their disbanding: And that this
shall be no prejudice to the Governour of Dover Castle for his entertainment; But
that the same be continued to him as formerly, H. Scobell Cley. Parl REsolved upon the question by the Commons assembled in Parliament, That the Some
Companies of foot in Kent, be forthwith disbanded.
A Lift of the names of such delinquents, as were in the late rebellion in the
County of Kent, as are discharged by the the Deputy Lieutenants, paying nothing,
or very small sums, and inconsiderate sums was this day read.
